Ironbound
Outfitters has an high rate of return hunting guest.
What if I have to cancel my
hunt?
Your deposits are non-refundable.
To ensure that our hunting spots are filled we do allow you to transfer
your deposit to another hunter. In addition, we can also hold your
deposit for another year in the event you cannot make it the year
you booked. All hunters are advised to procure appropriate trip
cancellation insurance.
Will I see other hunters?
In many of our territories, Ironbound
Outfitters has exclusive rights to guide non-resident hunters for
the specific species we are hunting. Although we are frequently
alone in the area being hunted, we may see other hunters as residents
of Newfoundland are allowed to hunt without a guide, providing they
have been selected in the game draw. Some of our hunts take place
at base camp, this can increase the possibility of seeing other
hunters since it's a drive-in location.
What are my odds of hunting
success?
You should see numerous animals
and hopefully a "keeper". We cannot guarantee a kill,
however, once your animal is identified, the hunt is on and our
experienced guides will do everything in their power to help you
achieve success. We want you to get your animal as much as you do.
Our motto has been "Your success is our success" for many
years.
What is your payment policy?
Ironbound Outfitters requires a
deposit of $500 to confirm your booking. A deposit of $1,000 confirms
your booking within one year in advance of your hunt with 50 per
cent of the cost of your hunt payable by January 1 of the year you
hunt. The remaining 50 per cent is due 60 days prior to the start
of your hunt.
Is
there power, and good, clean drinking water?
Power
will be available at all of our base camps and our remote hunting
lodges. Good, clean spring water will always be available. Shower/bathing
water will also be available.

What
is the walking like?
The ground
around our hunting lodges is very diverse. Many of our hunters that
has hunted Alaska, say that the terrain and the landscape are almost
identical. Open marshes, wooded valleys, and lots of tangled undergrowth
in places. It is important to be in relatively good shape since 4
or 5 miles a day is not uncommon. Walking usually increases your chances
for the "big one".
Are
non-hunters welcome?
Indeed,
non-hunters are very welcome. There are lots of things to see and
do around our hunting lodges. Great scenery and an abundance of
wildlife for those interested in photography, very diverse and unique
vegetation cover for plant lovers and of course, there are always
antler sheds around.
What
is the weather usually like?
The weather
in Newfoundland is changeable. If you are hunting in the remote lodges,
snow is a distinct possibility throughout the hunting season. However,
the first week or two of season could also be 85° F. The weather
could also shorten your hunting days since heavy rain and fog is also
a possibility. It pays to be prepared for any eventuality. Remember,
"You can take it off, but if you don't have it, you can't put
it on".
Do
you have a standby list?
Yes,
we do maintain a standby list to allow us to fill in for unforeseen,
but rare, cancellations. If you want your name on the standby list
for a particular hunt, simply phone or e-mail us and we will do
our best to accommodate your needs, although standby opportunities
are rare.
We
welcome your comments about our company, operation and/or webpage.
