I run a small outfitting operation in Southwest Newfoundland.
My past experience includes 35 years guiding, twelve
of which have been both guide and camp owner/manager.
I pride myself in the fact that I provide the best possible
guides, cooks and other personal facilities to all our
guests. All
of our hunting, except for the occasional ATV ride,
is done on foot, with one guide for each hunter. Walking
at times can be rugged. For this reason, it is important
for everyone to be in relatively good physical shape.
This method of hunting provides the highest quality
personalized trophy hunts with excellent success rates.
Access to my camp is obtained by float plane and helicopter.
Each outpost cabin consists of a comfortable woodstove,
electric lights, propane range and indoor washroom complete
with shower. I like to limit the number of hunters in
the camp to four per week. This helps insure a more
enjoyable hunt. However, exceptions can be made depending
on the situation. Please feel free to inquire on this
topic. All hunters have access to spike camps, which
are smaller camps located away from the main camp. These
camps sometimes provide an advantage in hunting depending
on such things as game movement and weather. The camp
is equipped with a radio telephone for both inventory
checks and emergencies. This facility is checked regularly
by my flight service during the course of each hunt.
However, since there is no controlling the weather,
delays in and out sometimes occur.
We have averaged a kill of 98%
for Woodland Caribou and 95% for Newfoundland Moose
. Rock Camp Outfitters specialize in "Man and Wife"
big game hunts..
